Coral Springs sits at the western edge of Broward County against the Everglades levee, which makes it one of the farthest cities in the county from salt water. It is also one of the easiest drives to our dock. Atlantic Boulevard starts at the Sawgrass Expressway, runs the full width of the county, and ends near Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach. Coral Springs was built on drained wetland in the 1960s, and its canals connect to the C-14 drainage system rather than the ocean. The closest salt water is Hillsboro Inlet, and the roads that get there matter. Atlantic Boulevard is a straight run but crosses Coral Ridge Drive, University, Rock Island and the Turnpike on the way, so allow extra time on weekday mornings.
