Parkland Fishing Charters

Your Neighbors Already Fish with Us

Parkland was zoned for big lots, horses and shade trees rather than docks, and nothing in the city touches salt water. So a Parkland family that wants a day on the ocean goes to someone who has one, and our boats run out of Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach. Our family fishing charters in South Florida are built for this exact household, the one that wants a real morning offshore without owning, trailering or launching anything.

Parkland sits inland in the northwest corner of Broward County, right on the Palm Beach County line, north of Coral Springs and west of Coconut Creek. The city built roughly 8.5 miles of trails, bike paths and sidewalks instead of canals to the sea, and the green, low-signage character is deliberate. None of it gets you to a fish that pulls back. Our offshore deep sea fishing charters leave from Hillsboro Inlet, where the reefs, wrecks and Gulf Stream drop-off sit 1 to 5 miles offshore.

For a family with younger kids, the half day is almost always the right first trip. It runs four hours at $850, with departures at 7:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and six guests fit on one boat. The 7:00 AM slot gets the calmest water and the strongest bite, which matters when a seven-year-old is holding the rod. A half-day fishing charter in Pompano Beach ends early enough that the rest of the Saturday is still intact.

Seasons and Tactics

What the Bite Looks Like for Parkland Guests

Anglers from Parkland, FL with their catch aboard Don't Panic out of Pompano Beach

What keeps kids and teenagers interested is steady rod-bending, not one dramatic strike an hour. That is why the crew usually starts on the reef, where snapper and grouper keep everyone busy and nobody gets bored waiting. In the warm months the captain can then push out to the blue water, where mahi-mahi hold under weed lines and floating debris. A teenager who has only caught bass in a neighborhood lake will remember the first mahi lit up green and gold alongside the boat.

A lot of Parkland bookings are multi-generation days, put together when relatives fly in for a week. Grandparents who fished up north, parents who have not held a rod in years, and kids who have never been offshore all end up on the same deck. Both Don't Panic sportfishing boats carry an air-conditioned salon, a galley and a private head, so there is somewhere to sit down and cool off. Licenses, rods, reels, bait, ice and bottled water are aboard already, and the mate cleans and bags the fillets before you drive home.

The Parkland Angle

Parkland Has No Coastline, So Here Is How the Day Works

Parkland is a landlocked city by design. Its parks are preserves and trails rather than boat ramps, and the Doris Davis Forman Wilderness Preserve is about 20 acres of cypress wetland boardwalk and pine woods in the middle of town. Temple Park hosts the Parkland Equestrian Center and a Sunday farmers market from November through April. None of it is salt water, which is the one thing a fishing trip needs.

So the planning question for a Parkland household is not which ramp or which boat, it is whether the morning is worth it. The answer is the geography off Pompano Beach. Hillsboro Inlet opens onto reefs, wrecks and the Gulf Stream drop-off within 1 to 5 miles of the beach, so the boat is fishing early instead of running. From spring into fall, mahi-mahi work the weed lines offshore, and winter brings sailfish in close behind the cold fronts.

The practical advice: book the 7:00 AM half day for a first trip with kids. Step up to the six hour trip at $1,250 only if the group will still be fishing hard at the end. Winter weekends fill two to three weeks out. Bring food, drinks, sunscreen and hats, leave the tackle at home, and let the mate handle every rig and every release.

Community

Where Our Parkland Guests Live

Heron Bay

The big master-planned community at the south end of Parkland, right against the Coral Springs line. Families here book the most, usually the 7:00 AM half day with two or three kids aboard, and often a second family splitting the boat. It is the easiest corner of the city to get out of early.

Cypress Head

An established residential community on the east side of Parkland, closer to the Coconut Creek line than most of the city. The groups we see from here tend to be repeat bookings, the same four or five dads who run a trip every spring once the mahi show up. They know the drill and are on the dock before the crew finishes loading ice.

The Ranches

Parkland's larger-acreage, horse-friendly properties on the east side, where a two-acre lot and a barn are normal. These are people already used to early mornings and animals, so a 7:00 AM departure is nothing to them. They are the most likely in Parkland to book a full-day charter from Pompano Beach, eight hours at $1,600, and fish the whole thing.

Reviews

Straight from the Cockpit

"Had a great time on this beautiful boat, with super cool Boat owner/Capt Ron, and skilled First mate Damien. If you’re looking to get on Mahi Mahi, tuna, and sailfish… this is the boat to go on. We got some, lost some but overall we WOULD definitely do this again!! THIS IS NOT A SIGHTSEEING TOUR, both Ron and Damien worked the entire 4 hours to get on our fish. Although the weather conditions didn’t help these guys made sure to be worth every penny. They turned this business transaction to an actual personal experience, really felt as if we were with family/friends. Great meeting you both and wish you guys nothing but the best! With a lot of love and peace, Manny Karl EJ Karl & Gabe Karl"

Half-Day Fishing Charter

"The Don’t Panic crew was amazing! My school North Broward Prep needed to take two groups of students on a charter for our Fishing club at school. We needed two days and had to split the club members on two separate charters on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Captain Ron was more than accommodating in meeting our needs. Captain Lucas and his first mates John and Damien were the best. They were patient with the students and helpful with their knowledge of the waterways! We had a great time and will definitely be using them again in April when we book two more charters. Thanks again Don’t Panic! Keeping it Reel Fishing Club!"

"Beat time ever fishing on Don’t Panic Sportfishing out of Pompano Beach, FL catching wahoo and mahi mahi. Captain Ron and Mate Damian were awesome, put us on the fish and great guys to spend the day with. The boat was comfortable and clean, a cooler filled with ice was provided for our drinks and Bluetooth music. I highly recommended them and can’t wait to come back fishing with them again."
