Fishing charter for Plantation anglers departing Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach

Plantation, Broward County

A Day Offshore, Booked from Plantation

Plantation sits inland in central Broward with no ocean access of its own, so the saltwater half of the day starts at our dock.

Fishing Charters for Plantation

From Plantation to the Gulf Stream

Plantation is a city of about 95,000 people with tree-lined streets, long-settled families and not one foot of coastline, so a day on the Atlantic is something you drive east for. The groups we take out of here vary a lot: retirees who fished up north, office crews from the Midtown corridor, three-generation birthdays, and parents whose kids have never seen blue water. Our offshore fishing charters in Broward County leave from Hillsboro Inlet in Pompano Beach, and we plan the day around whoever is coming.

Fishing the Water off Plantation

Anglers from Plantation, FL with their catch aboard Don't Panic out of Pompano Beach

Plantation covers a wide stretch of central Broward, with Davie along the south side and Lauderhill to the east, and nothing inside the city limits touches salt water. The water Plantation has is lakes, including the ones at Plantation Heritage Park and Volunteer Park, and neither of them connects to the Atlantic. Our offshore deep sea fishing charters run out of Hillsboro Inlet, where the reefs, wrecks and Gulf Stream drop-off sit 1 to 5 miles offshore.

Choosing the trip length matters more here than choosing the boat. The four hour half day at $850 is the right call for a first trip, or for any group with young kids and one person quietly worried about their stomach. Six hours suits a mixed group that wants time on the reef and a look at the blue water too. A half-day fishing charter in Pompano Beach also leaves most of the day intact, which is why it wins so many Saturdays.

A Plantation group is often a real range of abilities standing on one deck, and the reef is what keeps everybody even. Snapper and grouper bend rods steadily, so the twelve-year-old and the uncle who has not fished since the nineties both have something to do. When the season is right the captain pushes out to the blue water, where mahi-mahi hold under weed lines through the warm months. Behind the winter fronts sailfish come in close, and that is the fish nobody in the group forgets.

Plenty of Plantation bookings are built around an occasion rather than the fishing. Retirement mornings, sixtieth birthdays, a graduating senior with three cousins in from out of state. Groups who want the water without the rods book our boat tours for special occasions instead. Either way the rods, reels, bait, ice and the license are already aboard, and the mate cleans and bags the fillets before you head back inland.

What Anglers Say After the Trip

"These guys are awesome. My wife and I had a really fun experience. We trolled around and they put us on a great bite bringing in some king fish and tuna. Highly recommend these guys if you are looking for a fishing charter. I’ll be back again this year and will be booking them."

"Captain Ron was patient, polite and friendly. Equipment was well maintained, and everything was ready to go when we arrived. Mate Damien never stopped, and there were zero issues with the attention and professionalism displayed. This crew knows their business. The boat was clean, and very comfortable. Will definitely be back when we can!"

Why Plantation

No Coast, Many Different Groups: Planning a Plantation Trip

Plantation's green space is genuinely good, and none of it is salt water. Plantation Heritage Park has shaded walking trails, a lake, picnic shelters and a disc golf course. Central Park carries the aquatic complex, athletic fields, a playground and a skate park, while Volunteer Park runs a Saturday farmers market from roughly 8am to 2pm beside its own lake. For anything offshore, the city borrows somebody else's inlet.

That part is simple. The harder part is that a Plantation booking rarely has one obvious shape, because the group might be four retirees, nine people from an office, or three generations at a birthday. So the first questions are the honest ones: how many, how long anyone wants to be out there, and whether the point is the fish or the day itself. From spring into fall the answer often points offshore to mahi-mahi on the weed lines, and in winter it points to sailfish behind the fronts.

A few practical notes. Winter weekends and holiday weeks go two to three weeks out, and we hear the same from Davie households just south of the city. Bring food, drinks, sunscreen, hats and soft-soled shoes, leave the tackle at home, and tell us up front if anyone gets seasick so the captain can pick water that suits them.

Around Town

Plantation Neighborhoods We Pick Up From

01

Plantation Acres

The semi-rural western end of the city, where lots run big and a barn or a horse trailer is still a normal thing to see. The groups that book from here are used to early starts and tend to go long. They are the most likely in Plantation to take a full-day charter from Pompano Beach at $1,600 and fish all eight hours.

02

Jacaranda

Jacaranda is the large established community on the city's west side, laid out around the golf course, and many of its households have been there for decades. Bookings skew toward retirees who fished up north for years and want to see what the Atlantic does, often two couples rather than a full boat. They ask sharp questions about tackle and they are patient on the reef, which is a good combination.

03

Plantation Midtown

Midtown is the central business district corridor, offices and denser housing rather than cul-de-sacs. Most of what comes out of here is work-related: a sales team that closed something, or a department that would rather be on the water than in a conference room. Anything over six people means both boats going out the same morning, so say so when you book.
